Princess Christmas Elise was my very first German Shepherd. My father got her for me the Christmas after my adoptive Mother passed away. I was only 8 years old. This beautiful German Shepherd not only became my best friend, she saved my life.
We instantly bonded. She heard all my tears, licked my face dry when I cried. She heard and kept all my secrets and pain, gave me unconditional love, healed my broken heart and gave me a reason to keep going on. I really don't know where I would be if it weren't for her.
We shared everything, including my watermelon jolly rancher stick. She would pull the sleigh I was on down the street in the snow. We literally did everything together. She was always by my side. She would not hesitate to attack anyone that would threaten to hurt me and went after a friend who was messing around with me during one occasion.
I really believe God gave her to me to mend my broken heart. Because of her I have always loved the Breed. They become in sync with their person. If you are lucky enough to be chosen as their person you will never feel alone or be alone again. I mean that literally. No more bathroom breaks on your own. They will either insist on being with you or wait outside your door to greet you like they are seeing their long list best friend.
You become a leader of their pack. It is one of the most rewarding bonds you can have. They give unconditional love, expecting nothing in return. My hope is to share how this smart, intelligent breed can not only become a part of your family but can really become an integral part of healing for those who are hurting just as my Princess Christmas Elise was for me!
